In order to educate the community prior to the District 15 Board of Education election on April 7th,  the Northwest Suburban Council of PTA/PTSAs sponsored a Candidate Forum on Wednesday, March 18th at Sundling Junior High. 
 

FORUM OPENING REMARKS/CANDIDATE SELF INTRODUCTIONS - (22 minutes)

Q1:  What do you think are the two most important needs or issues facing the district?
How would you address these two issues that you have identified?

(8 minutes)

Q2:  When do you anticipate the district will call for a referendum?  What does the district have to do now in order for that referendum to pass? - (7 minutes)

Q3:  As an elected representative, do you pledge to always, to the best of your ability, treat members of the public with courtesy and respect even if the public member does not behave that way toward you or your fellow Board members?  How would you improve communication between the school board and the public?  - (8 minutes)

Q4:  What is your understanding of merit pay compensation and would you support that in the upcoming teacher contract negotiations? - (7 minutes)

Q5:  What can the school board do to better schedule the necessary and sometimes urgent maintenance and repairs so that the school environment is safe and conducive to learning for our students in all district schools? - (7 1/2 minutes)

Q6:  How do you feel about a pay freeze of one year for all District 15 employees?  - (6 min.)

Q7:  How would you increase the technology budget and maintain a balanced budget?  Where would you find more money for technology? - (7 minutes)

Q8:  Share your thoughts in teaching Spanish in elementary school especially in schools with a huge Hispanic community? - (6 1/2 minutes)

Q9:  Is it appropriate for any candidate to accept campaign donations of any kind from employee groups, unions or their political organizations?  Have you ever accepted these types of donations from any employee group?  - (3 1/2 minutes)
